Going on holiday is an adventure and yours begins as soon as you arrive at Lombard farm! You could start with exploring the meadow, swinging on the hammock or just taking your time with a glass of Cornish wine or cream tea.
You may be staying in the yurt, an adventure in itself, but if not, new for this spring we will have a large tipi tent in the meadow, with carpets and cushions, an ideal place for overnight camps, a teenage hideaway and another place to explore!
There is a family sized hammock, a new tree maze and of course the wonderful wooden hot tub -which from 2009 will be both wood and solar powered. You can take a look at what we have to offer at facilities.
If you have never been to the Fowey Valley before, you are in for a treat; from your doorstep there are long and short walks in almost every direction and we have plenty of maps to help you on your way. You can take a quick preview on Google maps.
A 10 minute walk will take you to the lovely River Fowey; skimming stones, watching a lazy heron fishing or if you are lucky seeing a ship navigate its way up the channel. A 20 minute walk through the meadow and along the river will take you to the town of Fowey and on to the Coast Path and town beach of Readymoney.
For the more adventurous, a 50 minute walk (or 15 minute drive) will take you to Lantic Bay, with breathtaking views from the cliff top along the coast and some fine beaches for swimming, crabbing or just lazing by a rock. These beaches are never crowded!
You may find that there is so much to do nearby that you never need to use the car!
More information can be found at local area and at local activities.
For a really good adventure, that will probably be the highlight of your holiday, we can take you on a Canadian canoeing expedition on the River Fowey.
The day will be planned to fit your aspirations and ability, and is ideal for small groups and families of all ages. You could be drifting with the tide, then sitting on a deserted beach brewing up a hot drink on the open fire whilst looking out to sea.
Alternatively you can have a more gentle adventure closer to home and stay in the luxury of your holiday house for a relaxing massage or yoga session or just a soak in the hot tub whilst everyone else is getting wet and muddy.
If you are keen to travel a bit further and explore the rest of Cornwall there is plenty to see and do. You could always take the train from Lostwithiel which is about 20 minute (taxi) drive from Lombard Farm.
From the spectacular cliffs of the north coast with excellent surfing beaches such as Polzeath, to the artists haven of St Ives with the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum, or even the restaurant of Padstow or Watergate Bay there really is something for everyone and of course The Eden Project is a 'must see' if you have not been there before!
For a really exciting adventure, you will find it hard to beat a Moorland expedition with rock-climbing and abseiling. We will guide you into the beautiful, wild heart of Bodmin Moor, and if you wish we will then lead you up a rock face and then help you abseil down.
Adventure Cornwall activities are very flexible, very friendly and ideal for beginners and all our groups are small, so you receive personal attention.
Whether you would like an extreme adventure on a exposed rock face or a gentle massage and lazy sunbathe in the hammock, you will be coming to the right place!!
